Maybe Some Training Is In Order
Hey Rez Members
After reading the paper this week as I am sure many of you have read the same.
"From Discussion at a tribal committee this week, even those in charge and working with victims of crime on the Fort Peck Reservation were not using the form and that's been a concern of the U.S. Attorney Bill Mercer."
Perhaps if the people "who think they are in charge" of investigating crimes and working with victims on the REZ or at least the people who are collecting a paycheck for this type of work to be done. Maybe these people should attend some of the "TRAINING CLASSES" that the Tribal Health Dept. attends, ( REFER TO LAST WEEKS PAPER / BLOG POST ).
Perhaps if they attended some of these training classes it may keep them informed as to what they should do when a crime is committed on the REZ, or perhaps this criminal / law department is attending training on "how to clean and change a bed pan properly", ( ment to be funny, lol, as sarcasm at the way Tribal Money Is Being Spent So Foolishly ).
Because there are some serious crimes that have been committed on the REZ that are not being investigated and solved. Then the evidence is either lost, contaminated, or that famous saying "Lack of evidence" gets put to use. Is that their way of covering their --- so they don't have to investigate these cases any further. (but yet they can collect a pay check for this work ).
*How does the Police Department feel when the U.S. Attorney says they are not filling out the proper forms to further the investigation.
*How could this be monitored by a concerned civilian / tribal member to make sure all steps are being taken and forms being filled out properly. OOPS, I'm sorry, isn't that what a supervisor is for, to make sure their employees are doing their work correctly. But then again if either the supervisors or the "people in charge of crimes on the rez" did their JOB correctly the U.S. Attorney would not have brought the subject up on how the proper forms are not being filled out properly or their not being used correctly.
I remember back in the "80's, Paul Harvey a national radio talk show host announced on national radio that Poplar, MT was referred to as "Stab City" , with more violent crimes in being committed in Poplar than in any large metro city across the country. NOW THAT'S BAD... And it says a lot about the Police Department.

Who Exactly Is Wasting Money?
Hey Rez Peeps
I was reading the paper Nov. 12, 2009 issue and noticed that $2048.90 being spent on Four(4) Tribal Members who work for the Tribal Health to attend training for Gangs In Indian Country. Now, a couple T.E.B. members voiced their opinion, however the Four(4) Individuals still ending up attending this training. And all they have to do is write a report, which really doesn't make any sense at all.
But, $2048.90 wasted funds. Now, who is to blame for this wasted money. The T.E.B. or the Four(4) individuals.
Now, don't get me wrong, but doesn't the Fort Peck Tribes have a Tribal Law Enforcement / Police Dept. and why wasn't any of these Officers chosen to attend the training. Hell, send a couple of the Rookie Police Officers or the Juvenile Detention Officers. And why didn't the T.E.B. vote against sending these Four(4) Individuals and insist that Law Enforcement Officers be sent.
*This is just a Prime Example at how FOOLISHLY TRIBAL MONEY is being spent, and the T.E.B. allowed it to happen.
*Why did the Tribal Health Supervisor allow these Four(4) individuals to attend this training.
*This one of the most FOOLISH ways tribal funds are spent. Is this the legal way to spend Tribal Funding so FOOLISHLY with the backing of the T.E.B.. Is there actually that much surplus in Tribal Funds. Why wasn't it put towards repairs with housing, elderly, or other more useful ways.
I was wondering is it possible for any Fort Peck Tribal Member to apply for these various Training Classes. If so, I am a Tribal Member / Veteran and I would like to make some easy cash by attending some of these classes. I promise I will be sure to write a report about it and give it to the T.E.B..
LOL - FOR ALL YOU NON GEEK HEADS, LOL IS DIGITAL LAUGHING - HA HA HA
I STILL DON'T BELIEVE THE T.E.B. GAVE AN O.K. FOR THESE FOUR(4) INDIVIDUALS TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING.

2009 Fort Peck Tribal Elections
Wow, 2009 Tribal Elections, all done and the first Monday for the new Tribal Executive Board is all finished. What a day it must have been for them. Now the work begins.
This Election the Tribe elected the same Chairman / A.T. Stafne, a new Vice Chairwoman / Roxann Bighorn , SGT @ Arms / John Weeks, along with some of the same Council Members and a few New Ones. With the elected officials taking office today. I would like to wish them all GOOD LUCK in their JOB that they are about to venture on together. Just like any other election, some Tribal Members are happy and some are not, with the out come of this Tribal Election. But, just like every thing else, you gotta take the good with the bad, and make it work.
I hope this group of Elected Officials / Tribal Executive Board, can work together and achieve some positive things for the Fort Peck Reservation and the rest of the Tribal Members.
*By creating some JOBS in the community.
*Finding some adequate HEALTH CARE.
*Get a handle on some of the CRIME and DRUGS.
*STOP SPENDING TRIBAL FUNDS SO FOOLISHLY. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL SIMPLY BY USING THE AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGY WHICH IS AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, (This is meant for the Tribal Executive Board Members) WHICH THEY CAN SAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, IF THEY WOULD USE TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY.
